European Commission announced a contribution during a summit in Paris; goal is to mobilize 200 billion euros with private sector

The European Union (EU) will invest 50 billion euros in Artificial Intelligence (IA), said Ursula Von Der Leyen, chairman of the European Commission, on 11.FEV.2025, during a summit in Paris. The goal is to mobilize a total of 200 billion euros with the private sector.

European Ai Champions initiative, led by the risk capital company, has gathered 150 billion euros in investment commitments from companies such as Airbus, ASML, Siemens, Infineon, Philips, Mistral and Volkswagen.

From the public amount, 20 billion euros will be destined for the construction of 4 large factories for artificial intelligence in the 27 countries of the bloc. These will add to another 7 units announced in December 2024.

“Our goal is to mobilize a total of 200 billion euros for IA investments in Europe,” said von der Leyen. The president pointed out that investments will focus on industrial technologies and critical missions.

The European investment, however, is still lower than the announced by the United States, where the private sector has pledged with up to $ 500 billion in AI infrastructure.
