The minister of the (Federal Supreme Court) determined the removal of the President of the Legislative Assembly of Bahia. The decision, issued on Monday (10), is injunction and can appeal.
The STF allows presidents of state or municipal legislative houses to be reelected only once. Adolfo Menezes () was elected president of the house in 2021 and was reelected twice: in 2023 and 2025.
The request for removal was made by state deputy Hilton Coelho (). In the action, he stated that, on the day of the home vote, he warned that Adolfo’s reelection was illegal for overcoming the allowed amount of reelection.

“It seems to me that the successive reelection of Adolfo Menezes to the position of President of the Legislative Assembly of the State of Bahia to the third consecutive biennium offends the understanding established in the judgment of the ADIs (direct action of unconstitutionality) that based the impossibility of unlimited reelection”,, said Gilmar in the decision.
Adolfo was reelected with 61 votes of the 62 possible on the last day 3. His opponent was Hilton Coelho, author of the action. Adolfo was elected deputy after receiving 1.36% of the valid votes. He is in the fifth term as a state deputy.
