More than half of the Portuguese has gone to the temptation of streaming. Platform costs are the biggest obstacle. Learn how to save Netflix’s invoice, Max (HBO) and Disney+, but also Apple+ and Prime Video.
In recent years, streaming has probably become the most popular way to consume movies and series. In Portugal, streaming platforms have already won millions of users.
Already more than half (52%) are those who consume television through streaming platforms, a record number – Although the effective subscription rate remains stable at about 41%, according to BSTREAM data.
For many others who have not yet given in to temptation, the high costs of platforms are often the biggest obstacle. But there are strategies to save the sofa experience as much as possible.
One of the most effective ways to save on streaming is opt for annual subscription, instead of monthly. Many platforms offer discounts for those who pay all the year at once. For example, Disney+ offers 12 months of access at the price of 10, subscribing to the annual version of the standard or premium plan.
Amazon’s Max and Prime Video also apply a similar policy, with a savings of up to 16% compared to monthly payment, according to calculations, which is equivalent to two free months at Max.
Also there is Plans subsidized by advertising. Disney+, for example, offers a low cost version of your service, where users can pay less, but will have to watch ads during movies and series.
This solution allows a savings of about 4 euros compared to the plan without ads. Skyshowtime, a platform that has also been gaining a slice of the Portuguese market, already offered a similar option.
Disney+ also offers discounts through partnerships with other companies. An example of this is the campaign with the continent, which allows customers to receive a credit of 30% of the subscription value on the continent card, to be used for supermarket purchases.
Another trick to reduce streaming costs, already widely used on various platforms (especially to save on the Spotify music platform) Share the bill with friends or family.
For example, Netflix allows an additional member to be added to the bill for only 4.99 euros per month – the most economical solution on the platform – which represents a savings of up to 72% over the value of an individual subscription.
Disney+ also has a similar offer, allowing a discount of up to 57%. Apple+ follows a slightly different approach, allowing up to five people to share a single subscription at no additional costs.
