The Minister of Defense, José Múciosaid on Monday (10), that the president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), was poorly interpreted when talking about the high in food prices.

Last Thursday (6), the petista suggested that the population do not buy very expensive products, to press the reduction and help control inflation.

“The president is a well-meaning man. so that there was no proliferation of increasing products in a disadvantaged way. He made a statement and was misunderstood. The government is leaning over it and will resolve, ”Múcio said in an interview with TV Cultura’s“ Roda Viva ”program.

Lula said at the time that: “If everyone was aware and not buying what is expensive, whoever is selling will have to download to sell, otherwise it will spoil. This is the wisdom of the human being. ”

In his statement, Lula also encouraged consumers to replace more expensive items with similar products with more affordable prices. He also stated that

“There is a very interesting thing about this inflation issue… First, we take inflation very seriously and it is reasonably controlled. Our concern is just to prevent the price of food from continuing to harm the Brazilian people and, therefore, we have held meetings with the sectors that, in our view, are at the highest prices, ”Lula said in an interview with Radios Itatiaia, World Best and BandNewsFM BH, from Minas Gerais.

“For example, meat is very high, we have other products that are high and we have to discuss with the sectors why these prices have grown so much from 12 months here. The truth is that in 2023 the meat fell 30% and then it rose again. There is no single factor that shows the price of things. What we need is to try to adjust because inflation causes a lot of damage to the working people, ”added the president.
