Players from the past and Manchester United gift attended to pay their honors to the former club striker and the Scottish national team Denis Law, who died last month at the age of 84 and was buried on Tuesday (11).

United captain Bruno Fernandes, defender Harry Maguire and joined the former coach Alex Ferguson and former athletes, including Ruud Van Nastelrooy, Gary Neville and Peter Schmeichel for service at Manchester Cathedral.

“What a man. What a player, first and foremost, for this city. But what a person, what a human being he was, ”said Schmeichel, goalkeeper of United from 1991 to 1999, Sky Sports.

“I was lucky enough to work hard with him, and was simply a fantastic man. He was one of those players who caught my attention to Manchester United, so I grew up with him as an icon and the other two (George Best and Bobby Charlton) as well. ”

Law was the last living member of the “Holy Trinity” of United, which included Best and Charlton, and is immortalized in the statue of the Trinity outside the stadium.

The funeral procession traveled through Sir Matt Busby Way and stopped on the statue for warm applause from hundreds of fans. United base players and the coaching staff formed a guard of honor and placed a flower crown on the statue.

Law’s coffin was taken to the cathedral with a flutist playing “Flower of Scotland.”

Law began his career at Huddersfield Town and named it, where he spent 11 years, winning the league titles in 1965 and 1967 and helping them win the 1968 Europe Cup.

He scored 237 goals in 404 games for United and is the third largest scorer in the club’s history behind Wayne Rooney (253) and Bobby Charlton (249).

Law became the only Scottish to win the European player prize of the year, winning both honors in 1964.

“His humility and empathy to people were excellent,” Brian Kidd, a United striker from 1967 to 1974, told Sky. “You would never believe he was a star, so foot, such a lovely, lovely person.”

George Best died in 2005 and Bobby Charlton in 2023.
