Mechanical failure in the brakes makes wagon out and collide against post in Acre

A bolivian trailer loaded with stones lost his brake and collided violently against an electric pole on Monday afternoon (10), near the border between Brazil and Bolivia, on International Avenue, in the municipality of Epitacioland, inland from Acre.

According to witnesses, the truck was parked down a slope on International Avenue, awaiting the release of documentation so that the stone load could leave Brazil and enter Bolivia.

At the time of the accident, the driver, who is Bolivian, was not in place. The vehicle had its hand brake, but possibly due to the weight of the load, it ended up descending the huge slope, colliding against a pole and partially reaching a trade. Minutes later, upon returning, the driver was incredulous with the scene and said he would register a police report at the Epitaciolândia Police Station. The company Energisa called a duty team, and the post was replaced.

The way the trailers await the release of documentation in the region is extremely precarious. In addition to, most of the time, being old vehicles with little maintenance, are parked in a descent, which increases the risk of serious traffic accidents on site.

In 2024, a truck carrying fuel had an accident in the same area after a wrong maneuver of a Bolivian driver. The impact pierced the side bodywork of the vehicle, causing fuel spill over pedestrians, cars, commercial establishments and sidewalks of Epitaciolândia. The rest of the liquid leaked to a stream on the border between Brazil and Bolivia.

Given these conditions, experts warn that a tragedy can happen at any time in the region.]
