Mother Fruit, a success case in the Algarve in the production of red fruits [vídeo]

In order to disseminate and highlight the transformation that agriculture in the Algarve has been experiencing, following the evolution of this strategic sector for the socioeconomic development of Europe, the Algarve Coordination and Regional Development Commission (CCDR), with the support of the network National Rural and in partnership with the region’s agri -food sector, it is promoting a short video campaign. These testimonies, narrated in the first person, present success cases of investments realized with the support of European funds.

As part of this initiative, the CCDR Algarve makes known to Mother Fruit – HortoFructicola Sales Center, Lda., A organization of vegetable producers in the region.

Founded in 1996, Mother Fruit was born for the purpose of overcoming the challenges faced by local vegetable producers and meeting the commercial demands imposed by a globalized and border market. Over the years, the organization has focused on the search for more sustainable economically cultures, evolving from vegetable production to red fruits. Currently, it brings together about 50 producers dedicated to this culture.

In order to increase the profitability of its members, Mother Fruit bet strongly in the investigation and development of new production techniques, as well as the qualification of its services. It is precisely in this context of growth and innovation that fits the support granted by the Rural Development Program (PDR) 2020.

The investments made translated into the expansion and modernization of the agroindustrial productive structure, allowing you to increase value creation, enhance innovation and ensure high standards of quality and food safety. This reinforcement has contributed to the improvement of competitiveness, sustainability and organizational training, consolidating its position in the regional and national agricultural sector.
