Valentine’s Day, a festival of lovers, is fast approaching. On this occasion, many women are given to bouquets of cut flowers by their other halves. This is certainly one of the most beautiful words of love, but also a beautiful decoration in our apartment. Probably every woman will admit that they are such a substitute for spring. Tulips are one of the most popular cut flowers, which we like to place in the vase. However, tulips in a vase, just like other flowers, should be cared. Thanks to this, they will look fresh for many days. There are several very important rules for taking care of cut tulips, thanks to which we can effectively extend their service life. One of them can even save wilting flowers. It’s about ice cubes. Put about three ice cubes into the water in a vase and only then place tulips in it. In cold water, bacteria will not develop too quickly, thanks to which tulips in the vase will stand much longer.
Care of cut tulips in a vase
In addition to the method described above, there are several others to extend the life of flowers, thanks to which they will stand in the vase much longer. First of all, before you put the cut flowers in the vase, use sharp scissors or pruning shears, cut their stems obliquely at a length of 2 cm. Set the vase in a cool place – not in the sun and it is important that it stands away from a bowl with fruit. Secondly, remember to replace water in a vase every day. It is also worth pouring about half a teaspoon of sugar into the water, because it works on tulips like a conditioner. The flowers will also be refreshed to throw in the aspirin or copper coin tablet. All these ways inhibit the growth of bacteria and mold in water and thanks to this flowers stand longer.
