The Dancenema Cultural Association, with the support of the Algarve 2030 program and the municipality of Portimão, begins this month the artistic and community project “Recall é Viver – Stories of a Life”. The initiative has as its main objectives the education for art, promotion of quality of life, social integration, overcoming prejudice and the connection between different generations.
The project will be developed from true testimonies of stories experienced by senior volunteers, giving rise to a plot that will be transformed into six episodes filmed and published on social networks. The culmination of this initiative will be a dance show played by three professionals in the area, with the participation of the senior community of Portimão.
With an expected duration of three years, the project begins with an approach with the senior population, including movement classes and dramatic expression. In 2025, dance classes and dramatic expression are scheduled in the municipality’s elderly homes, as well as interviews, conversations, research and recording of the episodes. In 2026, in addition to the continuation of artistic classes, the dance piece will be created and presented, with a scheduled tour of 2027, bringing the show to other municipalities.
Two experimental classes are already scheduled: on February 18, a theater class will be taught for the users of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia of Portimão, and on February 20 there will be open dance classes (9: 30-10: 30) and theater (15: 00-16: 00) at the House of Arts.

The activities will be conducted by teachers Rita Rodrigues (Theater) and Ana Brito (dance), promoting an active involvement of the senior community and encouraging artistic participation as a tool for social inclusion and well-being.
