The defense of former pockets pocket prosecution Jorge Guaranho, Petista Municipal Guard Marcelo Arruda in 2022 in Foz do Iguaçu (PR), said on Wednesday (12) that the defendant does not remember the time of the crime, due to the sequelae who suffered on the date.
“Jorge does not remember anything at that day. This has to make it clear. All he knows is what was reported to him by studying the process,” said one of the defense lawyers Samir Mattar Assad in a press interview on Wednesday , in front of the Jury Court, where the trial of Guaranho has taken place since Tuesday (11).
“He suffered punches and firearm shots. He has a projectile lodged in the brain. It has irreversible sequelae of neurological and cognitive character,” Assad continued.
In July 2022, after raising Marcelo, Guaranho was also shot and, lying on the floor, still took kicks. Guaranho invaded the celebration party of Marcelo’s 50th anniversary. The party was thematic, with PT symbols, Marcelo’s acronym.
Guaranho has been under house arrest since the end of last year and arrived in court using crutches, around 8:30 am this Wednesday. He declined to make statements to the press.
The lawyer did not want to anticipate if Guaranho intends to answer the questions in the jury. The estimate of the lawyers is that the sentence leaves this Thursday (13).
He is being charged with homicide doubly qualified for futile reason (political divergence) and common danger (shots fired in an environment with others).
The Guaranho jury began on Tuesday morning, when four people, including witnesses and informants, were heard. The first statement was by the civil police officer Pamela Silva, mate of Marcelo.
Guaranho’s defense strategy so far has been to dismiss the qualifier related to political motivation, which has been coupled by the accusation.
“The reason that took Guaranho to Marcelo’s party was no other. It was a political. Because we didn’t know this citizen. If it wasn’t a politician, we would like to know what he went to do there, then. He could answer,” Pamela said, ” , in a press interview this Wednesday.
The first to testify this Wednesday is a friend of Marcelo and Uncle of Pamela, Edemir Alexandre Riquelme Gonsalves. “The decoration of the party had no intention of offending anyone.
