The UCAM Murcia of Basketball announced on Wednesday the signing of Kostas Antetokounmpo, brother of Giannis – ajugador of the Milwaukee Bucks and one of the NBA stars – until the end of the season. The 27 -year -old pivot arrives from the Panathinaikos after terminating the contract with the Greek team last week. In his record it has an NBA ring with Los Angeles Lakers in 2020 and a Euroleague, achieved last season precisely with his last team.
Kostas is not the first of the four brothers to play with the Murcia team. His little brother, Alex, was already in the lower categories of UCAM in the 20/21 season. The third of the Antetokounmpo is a player with great wingspan – very 2.08 meters – and with a great physical power and stands out for its great defensive and rebounding capacity. With this reinforcement, the team led by Sito Alonso wants to get into the fight for playoffs of the Endesa League, where after falling into the final against Real Madrid. This year they are in the 11th position in a competition where only the first eight have access to the qualifying phases. The Greek player began his career in the bases of the Greek Filathlitikos until he moved to the United States with his family for the team in the draft of his brother Giannis in 2013. In 2018 he was chosen in the 60th position of the NBA draft by the Philadelphia 76ers, but was transferred to Dallas, where he barely played two games. From the maximum basketball competition he returned to Europe to play in the French Asvel. Then he went through Fenerbahçe until he reached Panathinaikos, where last year he won the Euroleague against Real Madrid.
