Opposition Movement Slovakia talks about the collapse of the state. The government criticizes the coalition for quarrels and not solving problems. He therefore calls for the announcement of early parliamentary elections. This was stated by the deputies of the National Council (NR) of the Slovak Republic Igor Matovič, Michal Šipoš, Július Jakab, Rastislav Krátky, Gábor Grendel (all Movement Slovakia, for People, RO) at Wednesday’s press conference.
“They promised to live better, calmer and safer. They promised cheaper food and gasoline. But what did they give people? Five hundred criminals released from bass, food 50 percent more expensive than in Poland, more expensive gasoline, robbed families and pensioners, cadastre does not work, ” noted Matovič.
MEPs also responded to the letter of the CIS leader Andrej Danko addressed to the Prime Minister. According to them, he contained serious things and offered a picture of the functioning of the coalition. They pointed out the passage that talks about stealing in health care. They called on the law enforcement authorities to start acting on this matter.
They also pointed out a part in which Andrej Danko claims that the CIS deputies forced them to support consolidation in parliament. They drew attention to the possible violation of the Constitution of the Slovak Republic. “When I look at the fact that the deputies, not just Andrej Danko, but their whole club, someone forces to vote for the laws that are not according to his best conscience and consciousness submitted and written, so they violate the constitution,” He said short. It will consider whether it will complaint to the Mandate and Immunity Committee of the National Council of the Slovak Republic or other steps.
Coalition officials are discussing the situation in the coalition. Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) announced that if the voice-SD and the CIS by Monday (17 February) will not reach the internal party agreement with deputies and do not provide the renewal of the permanent government majority, he will propose to President Petr Pellegrini change in the government. In response to this, the CIS leader published an open letter to the Prime Minister, where he told him that his resolution of the crisis is a gross violation of the coalition agreement.
The coalition had 79 deputies at the beginning of the parliamentary term. Last year, however, three deputies – Rudolf Huliak, Pavol Ľupták and Ivan Ševčík – spoke from the CIS club. The Voice-SD club lost three deputies this year, Roman Malatinec joined the CIS and Radomír Šalitroš and Samuel Migal excluded from the party. MEPs around Huliak had previously declared readiness to help fulfill the coalition of the government’s program statement. However, they pointed out that the negotiations are still ongoing and it depends on their outcome. Several ministers have admitted changes in the government related to changes in the situation in the National Council of the Slovak Republic.
