More than R $ 60 trillion has already been moved through transfers via Pix, as shown, provided that the instant payment system was implemented in November 2020.
By 2020, even due to the short time available, R $ 149 billion were moved. Already in 2021, the 1st year in which the tool was made available for all 12 months, the amount has already jumped to $ 5.2 trillion.
Now, 4 years later, the accumulated value of transfers via Pix reached the mark of $ 60 trillion. According to data from the Central Bank, there are more than 164 million registered users as individuals in Pix, while 18.8 million are legal entities.
In total, 828 million pix keys have already been registered, most of them to individuals, with 787 million. Of these, most are random keys, with 399 million records. Although the vast majority of registered pix keys are from individuals, the central bank survey showed that there was a considerable growth of trades using the instant payment system. Until January 2025, 42% of the transactions made by PIX went to commercial establishments.
The most used method is still from individual to individual, with 45% of transactions. This difference, however, was much higher: in February 2023, for example, only 26% of the transactions had been performed from individuals to commercial establishments, with 64% being made among individuals.
In addition, the amount moved by commercial establishments is much higher. The Central Bank detailed that, of the R $ 60 trillion already moved through Pix, 47% were among commercial establishments, the B2B (“business to business”Or“business for business). Only 28% of this value was moved among individuals.
