WASHINGTON, USA (Folhapress)-US President Donald Trump met on Tuesday with the king of Jordan, Abdullah 2nd, a day after threatening to suspend transfers to the country if his leaders do not accept the proposal to receive the Palestinian population that is today in Gaza.
While next to Trump, Abdullah 2º avoided responding assertively to journalists about the American plan, but then stated in an X (former Twitter) post that Trump said to be against the idea of expulsion of people in the region.
“I reiterated Jordan’s firm position against the displacement of Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank. This is the unified Arab position. Reconstructing Gaza without moving the Palestinians and addressing the serious humanitarian situation must be the priority for everyone, ”wrote the king of Jordan on the social network.
The day before, Trump said he could suspend financial aid to the country, which receives more than $ 1.5 billion from Americans annually.
The meeting also occurred in the face of the possibility of breaking the ceasefire agreement in the war between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
Beside the king, Trump reinforced his ultimatum to Hamas on Tuesday, after saying that if they do not free “all hostages” until noon on Saturday (15), anything can happen.
“I have a deadline for Saturday, and I don’t think they will meet the deadline. Personally, I think they want to play tough, let’s see how tough they are, ”said Trump on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, Israel’s prime minister Binyamin Netanyahu said he will break the ceasefire if the terrorist group does not drop the prisoners until the established date.
Netanyahu’s statement and Trump’s threat occurred after Hamas announced that he would postpone prisoners’ release alleging Israel violations to the ceasefire agreement in the area.
The deal provides for the release in the hostage phase, being the next (the Friday), scheduled for Saturday. The Hamas movement generated apprehension about the maintenance of the truce.
Behind the warning of the terrorist group is dissatisfaction with Trump’s proposal, endorsed by Israel.
The Jewish state said to make military preparations for the departure of part of the 2.3 million Gazenses, but points out that this would be voluntary.
Upon receiving the king of Jordan at the White House, the US president reaffirmed the intention of taking Gaza and promoting the expulsion of the population permanently, which means ethnic cleaning of the place. Trump proposed that the displacement was permanent.
The US president said he will not buy the region, but will take it with the United States authority. Although his plan is contested worldwide and treated by some as a potential war crime, Trump said he believed no one will question Gaza’s possession.
“Let’s not buy anything. Let’s have, let’s keep and let’s guarantee that there will be peace and no problem and no one will question that, ”said Trump.
The US President presses to Jordan, like Egypt, to accept his ideas – rejected by countries and widely criticized by foreign authorities – to contain the conflict between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
“We will manage it very properly. Eventually, we will have economic development on a very large scale, perhaps the largest scale in this place. We will have many good things built there, including hotels and office buildings and housing and other things, ”treating the region again as a real estate development. The US President has said that Gaza could be a “riviera” of the Middle East.
Minimizing the history of Palestinians, Trump said they just want to continue in Gaza because they don’t know other places and said they move 2 million people – the estimated population would be a small number.
While answering questions from journalists alongside Trump, the king of Jordan was cautious and avoided rejecting the idea, saying that he needs to see the “that will be better to his country.” “I believe the president is eager to gather a group of us, Arabs, here to discuss the general plan.”
The king of Jordan adopted cautious Tom alongside Trump saying that he needs to think about his country, but said he will have discussions with Saudi Arabia on the subject, besides Egypt.
“I think the question is how to make it work in a way that is good for everyone? Obviously, we have to look at the best interests in the United States, people in the region, especially my people in Jordan, ”he said.
The king said he will receive 2,000 Palestinian children from Gaza, some who suffer from cancer, to receive medical treatment in Jordan. He also stated that he will propose to Trump a joint position of the Arab and Muslim countries regarding the proposal to withdraw Palestinians from the place and conflict in the region.
“One of the things we can do immediately is to bring 2,000 children who are children with cancer or very serious to Jordan as soon as possible and then expect the Egyptians to present their plan on how we can work with the president to face the challenges.” , reinforced the king.
The US President met on Tuesday with Abdullah 2nd and the country’s prince, Al Hussein Bin Abdullah 2nd. It is Trump’s third bilateral meeting since inauguration in January and the first time he receives a Middle East leader. Last week, the Republican met Netanyahu.
