They called on the EU Member States to show unity on this issue.
Foreign Ministers of France, Germany and Spain on Wednesday at a meeting in Paris stressed that any peace agreement in Ukraine cannot be achieved without the participation of Kiev and its European partners in negotiations. They responded to US President Donald Trump’s call with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, who agreed to start talks about the end of the conflict in Ukraine. TASR writes about this based on AFP report.
“There will be no fair and permanent peace in Ukraine without the participation of Europeans,” said French Foreign Minister Jean-Neloel Barrot.
His German colleague Annalena Baerback and the head of Spanish diplomacy José Manuel Albares added that no decision can be taken without Ukraine. At the same time, they called on EU countries to show unity on this issue.
“We want peace for Ukraine, but we want the unfair war to end in a fair peace,” Albares added.
Meanwhile, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said that the subject of discussions at a meeting in the French capital was also “continuing cooperation with the US”. According to him, the greatest security guarantee of Europe is just close transatlantic cooperation.
