With no strong options for Sao Paulo, petistas have been discussing internally probing names outside politics to compete in the Senate – even the state government.
Among the options mentioned is former player Raí, who has leftist political positions.
Party president in the state, Kiko Celeguim states that the former athlete would be “very welcome” to the PT, but says there was no contact with him.
“I don’t even know Raí personally. We will discuss this issue later, after the process of renewal of the party direction, which will take place in the middle of the year,” he says.
Another name that was mentioned internally is that of doctor Drauzio Varella.
The PT estimates that its only competitive name for a state dispute is that of the Minister of Finance, but has shown resistance to running the endeavor.
Other possibilities, such as ministers Alexandre Padilha (institutional relations) and Luiz Marinho (work) are seen with more fragile electorally to hit Governor Tarcisio de Freitas (Republicans) or someone he indicates.
In the options placed are the vice president and the minister (entrepreneurship).
