The councilman of Lucas Pavanato () presented a bill that creates the day to combat Christophobia on the Sundays of Easter.
In justification, the parliamentarian says that there is a “persecution against Christians” in Brazil and in the world. And that the project aims to “guarantee religious freedom and dignity” to the group.
This is not the first time that a type proposal has been presented in the City Council. In 2016, the house approved a project authored by former Councilman Eduardo Tuma who created on December 25 of each year the day of the fight against Christophobia.
The text, however, was vetoed by the then mayor (PT).
“The project in question, in fact, encourages the separation between Christian religions and other religions, in addition to the LGBT population, providing disservice to the efforts that the whole of São Paulo has made for the sake of peaceful coexistence with democratic plurality,” he said The petista in the veto published in the Official Gazette.
Pavanato comes from MBL (Free Brazil Movement) e. He has already introduced u.
He proposes “biological sex” as the only criterion for gender defining sports competitions in the city and using bathrooms in collective spaces and the ban on hormonal treatments in children under 18.
Among his projects is also the “Olavo Carvalho Defense Award”, to be delivered by the House annually on the birthday of the self -titled philosopher, who died in 2022, to recognize initiatives in favor of family and church.
