The, who killed the petista municipal guard Marcelo Arruda in 2022, in (PR), began on the morning of Tuesday (11), and had four testimonials, including the widow, a vigilante and a friend of victim. The statements reinforced the accusation of political motivation of the crime.
Already the defendant’s defense sought to ward off this thesis and say that Guaranho reacted by feeling threatened.
Guaranho entered crutches and accompanied the trial inside the court.
Pamela Silva, Marcelo’s companion, said in answers to the prosecutor Ticiane Louise Santana Pereira that he related well even to friends and family who were not friendly to the PT.
“He was 28 years old as a municipal guard and, inside the corporation, was a minority. People even referred to him as the PT, the petista, joking,” said Pamela, who is a civil police officer, currently assigned to the intelligence sector of Binational Itaipu.
In addition to belonging to the municipal guard’s staff, Marcelo was a PT treasurer in Foz do Iguaçu and legal director of the municipal servants’ union. Pamela and he had two children. Marcelo had two other children of the previous relationship.
All four children were in celebration of his father’s 50th anniversary when the crime happened on July 9. The decoration of the party alluded to the PT, with red balloons and T -shirt with the face of President Lula, then candidate.
Guaranho is charged by the state prosecutor of doubly qualified homicide, for futile reasons (political divergence) and common danger (the shots could have hit others in the environment).
This Tuesday, the images of the moment of the crime, recorded by the security cameras of the site of the party, were shown to Pamela, who was narrating the facts.
She was the first to try to prevent Guaranho’s entry, showing the badge to him. “I told him it was a family party, a private party. I thought it was possible a dialogue. I hadn’t thought of getting my gun,” she said, who has the gun possession, as a civil police officer.
At that time, around 11:30 pm, the party was already at the end, according to Pamela. “There were about 15 people. Half of the guests had already gone. He doesn’t identify himself as a criminal policeman, nor does he say who he is,” she said.
When the images advanced to the shots at Marcelo, Pamela cried and needed a few minutes to drink water. “It’s very difficult, but come on,” she said.
The civil police officer became thrilled to the end, narrating help to her husband, already inside the ambulance.
Pamela was the first to testify in the jury, shortly after the sentence council, with seven jurors drawn, four women and three men.
The jury is led by Judge Mychelle Pacheco Cintra Stadler of the 1st Private Court of the Paraná Capital Jury Court, and can last until Thursday (13).
After Pamela, the vigilant Daniele Lima dos Santos gave testimony and confirmed he heard when Guaranho shouted “here is Bolsonaro, fucking”, when driving “with everything”, according to him, through the concierge of the party.
In the statement, he cried by reporting that he suffered “a lot of pressure” from pockets who criticized him for the information he led to the case. “I was just doing my service,” he said.
The defendant’s defense, led in the jury by lawyer Ércio Quaresma, tried to explore weaknesses in the vigilante’s testimony, who said he no longer remember all the details.
Throughout the statements, the defendant’s defense also acted to try to show that Guaranho would only have acted after seeing, in the background, that Marcelo pointed to a pistol against him.
“He doesn’t get out of the car with a gun in hand. Only when he sees Marcelo. He only put his hand on his waist and pulled the gun when he realized he had a pistol pointed at him,” said the lawyer.
Pamela was on her back to Marcelo, trying to talk to Guaranho, and said when questioned in the jury that “I can’t say who comes out first”.
“It’s a very fast moment. He arrives sharply with his vehicle, gets out of the car, takes two steps and pulls out the gun,” she said.
The defense thesis is that if Guaranho’s intention would indeed “kill all the petistas”, she would have been shot herself. “The lady was in his shooting line,” he continued Quaresma.
The defendant’s defense also mentioned more than once the lesions suffered by Guaranho, generated by the kicks, when he was already on the ground injured. The insistence at this point generated a chat between defense and prosecution.
Outside the jury building, family and friends of the petista organized a demonstration with banners and photos, requesting the defendant’s conviction.
Tuesday’s third statement was from the criminal expert Denise de Oliveira Carneiro, responsible for the report on the images of the case. She confirmed that Guaranho and Marcelo made “simultaneous targets”, that is, they pointed the gun at the same time.
But according to the images, she explains that it is possible to say that the three shots fired by Guaranho were made before the six shots fired by Marcelo. Even wounded and already lying on the floor, Marcelo managed to shoot Guaranho.
Fourth and last witness this Tuesday, Wolfgang Vaz Neitzel, Marcelo’s friend who was at the party, said at the jury that the arrival of Guaranho caused strangeness, since no one knew him.
Wolf says that the first time the then criminal policeman passed at the party, he shouted “here is Bolsonaro” and said he would “return to kill everyone.”
It was he who also says he listened to the 2018 Bolsonaro campaign jingle, coming from the sound of Guaranho’s car.
Tuesday’s trial session ended shortly before 9:30 pm. Other witnesses will be heard on Wednesday (12), from 9am. Then Guaranho should be questioned.
The crime
Marcelo, who invaded the party.
The municipal guard fell injured and even reacted, fired at his aggressor, but could not resist the injuries. He died at dawn on July 10.
Guaranho was admitted to a hospital and then had the pre -trial detention decreed. In September 2024, he obtained a court decision that allowed him to migrate to house arrest.
Before the trial started on Tuesday, Pamela told the Sheet that “there is a criminal action full of evidence” and that waits for the conviction of Guaranho.
“That Curitibana society see the facts how they really are and be fair and conscious,” she said. “It’s just a fact. We were celebrating the birthday and that person broke into the party. There was a political motivation,” she says.
