United States and Israel promised to interrupt the ceasefire in the Gaza range if Hamas does not maintain the hostage delivery calendar.
Also on Tuesday (11), Donald Trump discussed the future of the Palestinian enclave with King Abdullah II of Jordan.
The king claimed to be against the American president’s project to remove the Palestinians from the Gaza Strip and to move them to Jordan itself and Egypt.
Trump had threatened to remove Americans’ financial aid from the Arab kingdom if the country did not take the plan to receive the residents of the enclave.
Still, the king promised to house 2,000 sick Palestinian children to receive treatment in Amman.
“With all the challenges we have in the Middle East, I finally see someone who can lead us to the finish line, who can give us stability, peace and prosperity to all of us in the region. It is our collective responsibility in the Middle East to continue to contribute to you, to support you, to achieve these great goals, ”said the monarch.
Despite the King of Jordan’s optimism, peace in the Middle East seems to have been even further in the last 24 hours. Donald Trump said he would end the ceasefire agreement if Hamas did not release all hostages until the end of this week.
Requirement that is not foreseen in the negotiations that Republican advisers mediated before he returned to the White House.
“I don’t want to see two (hostages), and then two the other week. And then four. Either they released everyone on Saturday at noon, or we don’t know what can happen… ”said Trump.
Israel’s premie, Benjamin Netanyahu, also considered the end of the deal on Tuesday. And he said he would attack Gaza again if there was no hostage on Saturday. He did not make it clear whether the condition goes for the release of all more than 70 hostages that are under the power of the Palestinian group. Or if only of the three Israelis who would leave the captivity on Sunday, following the terms of the ceasefire agreed last month.
In a statement, Hamas said the threats are only rhetorical. And that the only way that the hostages are released is with the end of the war in Gaza.
Earlier this week, Hamas suspended the release scheduled for Sunday, accusing Israel to pierce the ceasefire clauses by restricting the entry of humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip and preventing the return of Palestinians to the northern region of the Enclave.
