At just 25 years old, João Pedro Coelho, born in Ponte de Lima, won the Cuisinier D’Or (Golden Cook) Award, one of the most important gastronomic contests in Switzerland and the world. The young talent is sub -chief at L’Hôtelle de Ville de Crissier’s renowned Le Restaurant, a three -star restaurant for 30 years.
João Pedro Coelho’s route in gastronomy began early. At 17, he won the national final of the Gastronomy Young Talent Contest and since then has accumulated striking experiences. He interned at Antiqvvm, a Matos restaurant with two Michelin stars, and participated in the RTP program “Cook Off – Duel of Flavors”.
Speaking to Lusa, the young chef underlines the importance of award: “This award represents a lot. It is the largest kitchen contest in Switzerland and one of the most important in the world. Winning means recognition for the work developed. ”
Living in Switzerland for over five years, João Pedro Coelho has always dreamed of working at L’Hôtelle’s L’Hôtel de Ville de Crissier, elected several times the best restaurant in the world and currently considered the third best.
Despite the achievement, the young chef keeps his feet based on Earth: “There is always something else to reach. For now, it has not yet defined a new goal, ”he said.
