Israel and Hamas advance towards a pact to keep the fire in Gaza

The Islamist group Hamas was on Thursday optimistic with, and said it was willing to “fulfill it in its entirety” while the pact guarantors press so that this Saturday three more hostages are released.

“We are not worried about the collapse of the high fire agreement in the Gaza Strip, since we are interested in implementing it and forcing the occupation (Israeli) to fulfill it in its entirety,” Hamas spokesman said today in a statement Latif al Qanou.

“The mediators are exerting pressure to complete the total implementation of the agreement, force the occupation (Israeli) to respect the humanitarian protocol and resume the exchange process on Saturday,” he added.

According to Palestinian sources consulted by the Israeli newspaper Liberal Haaretz, Israel and Hamas have agreed to the release of three hostages, in accordance with the agreement, while Israel will increase the entry of humanitarian aid into the strip as “tents, gas and medical equipment “

Yesterday, a delegation of Hamas arrived in Cairo, led by the member of the Political Bureau Jalil al Haiya, in order to address the crisis on the implementation of the agreement and the exchange of hostages and prisoners.

On January 10, Hamas announced that he pauses “until again notice” the sixth exchange of the truce, scheduled for this Saturday, for the repeated “violations” of the agreement by Israel, among which he cited impediments at the entrance of humanitarian aid – such as stores and prefabricated houses – or the fact that the army continues to kill Gazatis in the strip.

To this, and following the suggestion of the president of the US, Donald Trump, his Israeli counterpart, Benjamín Netanyahu responded with another ultimatum, urging the Islamist group to free the hostages before Saturday at noon, if he did not want to return to the War in Gaza.

“The threat and intimidation language used by (Donald) Trump and Netanyahu does not serve the implementation of the high fire agreement,” said Qanou today.
