Opposition members took advantage of the lines in which Defense Minister José Mucio defends from 2023 to endorse annesty claims to those convicted of the episode.

Múcio diminished the episode during an interview with the Roda Viva program, wondering if those acts would be able to overthrow the government.

The former president’s eldest son (PL), the senator (PL-RJ), published a video compiled with excerpts from the minister’s interview with the subtitle “nor the minister of believing in coup.”

In the post, Flávio claims that innocents were arrested and uses the video to ask for amnesty for the convicts.

“They created a narrative to punish these people without proper reasonableness and legal typification. There are innocents arrested by January 8, sentenced to disproportionate penalties, without committing crimes that justify them.”

Federal Deputy Caroline de Toni (PL-SC), now leader of the minority in the House, also made use of X (former Twitter) to use Múcio’s speech in favor of the agenda. “It seems that a lapse of conscience has hit the minister,” he published.

The position was accompanied by Deputy Helio Lopes (PL-RJ), who also posted a report on the minister’s lines. “Another narrative falling apart,” he wrote.
