The municipality of São Brás de Alportel began the largest work of the Municipal Plan of Water Efficiency, with the renewal of the Corotelo adductor system, a fundamental project for the modernization of water supply infrastructures from the county.
The intervention represents an investment of 561,205.45 euros, financed by the Plan of Recovery and Resilience (PRR), and was awarded to the Hydralar Consortium, SA – Paviwater Unipessoal, LDA. The works, designed by the company Architrafego-Territorial Studies of Architecture and Traffic, LDA, have recently started and will have a predicted duration of 240 days.
The municipal executive, accompanied by engineer Hélder Rosa, project manager, and the heads of division Mónica Inácio (municipal works and infrastructure) and Amelia Ribeiro (environment and climate action), visited the site to follow the start of this work of great importance in Water efficiency plan of the municipality.
The works include the construction of a new gravitical pipeline, which will make the connection between the Corotelo reservoir and the existing pipeline that supplies the São Romão reservoir, from the Arroteia reservoir.
According to the municipality, this intervention “is essential to ensure an efficient and sustainable water supply service to the population.”
“The replacement of the current pipeline, which already has 30 years of operation and has high levels of water loss and frequent ruptures, will allow more effective management of water resources and will reduce waste, promoting environmental sustainability,” he concludes.
