Student of the Algarve Hotel School qualifies for international competition in Sweden

Angela Vieira, student at the Algarve School of Tourism and Hospitality, was selected to represent Portugal in an international competition that will take place in November, Sweden. The student stood out in the National Interescolas Contest, an initiative of Turismo de Portugal, which took place between February 5 and 7, at the School of Hospitality and Tourism of Estoril, gathering 150 participants to compete in 13 specialties.

For his exceptional performance, Angela Vieira won first place in the pastry category, thus ensuring her participation in the European meetings of AEHT (European Association of Hospitality and Tourism Schools), which take place in November, in Västeras, Sweden.

The Interescolas contest celebrated this year two decades to promote talents for the tourism sector. Created in 2005, the event aims to recognize and reward the best students in the Portuguese Tourism School network, providing them with a talent showcase and a professional growth platform.

Since the art of bar and boricism to hotel management, going through tourism, kitchen and pastry, participants have shown a level of competence, creativity and professionalism that reflects the quality of teaching taught in hotel and tourism schools. In this special edition, competitors tested their skills in 13 specialties, namely: bar, barista, apprentice cook, decathlon, tourism, hotel accommodation, hotel management, junior pastry, Joaquim January cup, scanning (Gilberto Mira), entrepreneurship, vegetarian cook and Bio cook.

With this achievement, Ângela Vieira takes the name of the Algarve School of Tourism and Hospitality to the European Stage, where she will have the opportunity to demonstrate her talent and compete with the best hotel and tourism students in Europe.

The Portuguese Tourism School Network, made up of 12 Hospitality and Tourism Schools spread from north to south of the country, is unique in the world, recognized and internationally awarded, as well as certified by the World Tourism Organization.

The network bets on the qualification and development of the competences of current and future professionals, training more than 3,000 students and 10,000 professionals per year.

Turismo de Portugal schools encourage innovation and entrepreneurship, providing technical conditions and specialized knowledge to companies, promoting digital literacy, inclusion and sustainability in the tourism sector.
