The Prime Minister invited the Pope to Slovakia
Fico last met František in 2017. He visited the Italian metropolis on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the signing of the Roman contracts and then went to the Vatican, where he met the Pope.
“In that moment, the Prime Minister of Sts. Father to visit Slovakia, ”said the Prime Minister’s spokeswoman Beatrice Szabó at that time.
According to the Pope’s trip, the Date of the Government Office did not specify and did not indicate how the pontifical stood to the invitation and whether he accepted it.
Fico has spoken about Catholic faith in the past
In the past, Fico said he came from a family that was “very strongly oriented Catholic”.
“In the family (…) I had priests who even studied abroad and acted as missionaries in different countries. I had the sisters who worked in important positions, ”said Marek Maďarič, who led Fico’s presidential campaign, in an interview with the then Minister of Culture.
“I went through holy baptism, reception, confirmation. If I had to make a profile in relation to the Catholic Church, I might have gone better than any MP for KDH, ”he also noted in the video before the 2014 presidential election.
The former KDH chief Pavol Hrušovský responded to his statements.
“If Robert Fico has completed the sacrament of baptism, holy communion, confirmation, he should finally have a holy confession,” he said.
He added that it is not enough just to declare respect for the Cyrilometod tradition and in real political life to make decisions contrary to it.
