A. Two traffickers were found dead on board, and narcotics were seized.
The FAB claims that it followed the procedures established by the Law of Aircraft Destruction (Law No. 9.614/98 and Decree No. 5.144/04), which allows the elimination of aircraft that invade Brazilian airspace without permission. Initially, research measures were performed to certify the identity and observe the conduct of the plane.
Soon after, the FAB ordered the plane to modify its trajectory and make a compulsory landing, but the determination was disregarded. The plane was then classified as an enemy. Warning shots, as a convincing method, were also made before the interception shot, which overthrew the plane.
Security procedures
The interception shot, according to the FAB, is the last alternative and is used only when the plane ignores all guidelines. After being hit, the plane plummeted into the forest and burned down, complicating the model identification.
The Federal Police attested to the existence of narcotics on board, but the amount is still being determined. Operation Ostium, in which the action participates, aims to combat infractions in the Brazilian border.
The Law of Aircraft Destruction (Law No. 9,614/98), which modified the Brazilian Aeronautics Code, and Decree No. 5.144/04 normatize airspace safety activities and protocols to be observed in foray situations.
