Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Ukraine “will not be able to accept any agreements” that are made without the country’s participation amid discussions about the war with Russia. Zelensky commented on the recent conversation between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, noting the importance of Ukraine’s inclusion in negotiations.
Zelensky emphasized that it is “important that everything does not follow Putin’s plan,” which would be seeking to turn negotiations into a bilateral conversation between Russia and the USA. The Ukrainian President expressed that he does not see Trump’s connection with Putin “as a sign that talking to Russia was a priority for the US President.” However, he acknowledged that the situation is “unpleasant anyway.”
The Ukrainian leader pointed out that “there can be no conversations about Ukraine without Ukraine” and that “Europeans also need to be at the negotiating table.” He reiterated that the priority for his country is the “security guarantees,” something he does not consider viable without the support of the United States.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the Russian President agreed with Trump that it is “time for our countries to work together” and that a “long-term solution can be reached through peace negotiations” but warned that it is “Essential to resolve the reasons for conflict.”
