The U-20 Brazilian National Team suffered against Argentina on Thursday (13), but was able to look for a draw 1-1, and postponed the definition of the South American title of the category, played in Venezuela.
Valid for the penultimate round of the competition, the confrontation was decisive because the title would be defined in case of victory of any of the teams. Only the draw would take the decision to the final round.
Ramon Menezes’s team reached the penultimate commitment in the hexagonal lead, with nine points in three matches, ahead of Argentina, who had the same score, but was disadvantaged in the goal balance: 4 to 3.
Now both teams add up to 10 points, with the same difference in the balance. In the last round, Sunday (16), Brazil faces Chile. Argentina ends its participation against Paraguay. To date, Conmebol (South American Football Confederation) has not confirmed the schedules of the matches.
The biggest winner of the competition, in search of its 13th trophy, the green and yellow national team lost the match on Thursday until the 38 minutes of the second half, when Rayan received a beautiful pass from Igor Serrote and finished cross to tie the confrontation.
Argentina had wide dominion so far, especially in the first stage, when it opened the scoring with a penalty goal, committed by Breno Bidon and converted by Echeverri, 40 minutes.
The lean score did not reflect the volume presented by the Argentines, who suffocated Brazilians in the defense field and created good chances to swing the nets.
It was the second meeting between the rivals in this edition. At the opening of the first phase, the celestial team applied a 6-0 defeat. The green and yellow team had never lost a match for more than three goals difference in the history of the competition.
