Do it before you put the cut peonies in the vase and they will look beautiful for many days
It is a dream of every woman with a garden. Colorful buds decorate the gardens and please the eye. However, not all of us have the opportunity to grow them under the windows of our home, which is why we will be so eager to decorate with peonies in the vase of the interior of our home. Huge pink and white peony flowers are one of the most beautiful cut flowers and placed in the vase arouse admiration. Unfortunately, it happens that they wither quite quickly. Due to the fact that they do not belong to cheap flowers, it is worth finding out how to care for cut peonies so that they stand in a vase as long as possible. It turns out that it is enough to perform one simple procedure before we put the peonies in the vase. It’s about cutting the stems. This is important because thanks to this peonies will be able to take water better and the nutrients it contains. How to do it correctly? Peony stalks should be cut a few cm from their tips and diagonally. Of course, do it with a sharp and sterile knife. Also remember to remove the leaves that will be under the surface of the water and other withered leaves. Thanks to this, they will stand in a vase for many days.
What to do to make peonies in a vase long?
In addition to pruning peony stalks, it is worth observing several other rules that can effectively extend the life of cut flowers. First of all, replace the water in a vase. It should be fresh and preferably at room temperature. Peony stalks should be immersed in water to about 10-12 cm. It is also worth using special nutrients for cut flowers. You can also prepare it yourself. Put in half aspirin tablets and pour a teaspoon of sugar into the water in a vase. Sugar works on cut flowers like a conditioner, while aspirin will prevent the development of bacteria in water.
