Survey foresees addition of 937 megawatts capacity on the continent, focusing on 5 main markets
Europe is preparing to establish a record in the capacity of data centers in 2025, says a study by the Commercial Real Estate Services (CBRE) released on Thursday (13.FEV.2024). The continent should add 937 megawatts (MW) of capacity, surpassing the 655 MW delivered by 2024 – a 43%increase. The information is from
The main European markets – frankfurt, London, Amsterdam, Paris and Dublin – will concentrate 57% of this new capacity.
The demand for spaces in data centers exceeded the offer by 2024, with 706 MW requested against 655 MW available. The sector faces challenges to obtain energy and land for new facilities.
The study also indicates that 5 of the 10 secondary markets analyzed will grow over 10% in 2025. Seven cities, including Milan and Madrid, should reach a capacity of 100 MW to December, above the 4 markets that reached this level by 2022.
The increase in demand for data centers is directly linked to the expansion of artificial intelligence and cloud computing in the region. Companies seek to expand their technological infrastructures to meet the new data processing and storage needs.
