Fee for credit processing concerns courts – consumer protection wants clarification

Many people in Austria use a loan for the financing of great wishes or a home. As part of the credit agreement, a so -called loan processing fee will also be offset. This is usually one to four percent of the borrowed amount. The objection of this fee is always controversial. The Supreme Court (OGH) stated in 2016 that the offsetting of a loan processing fee was permitted. However, this fee has been criticized since 2023, some consumers have sued them.
