Hockey players of Nové Zámky will leave the highest Slovak competition after nine years. This was decided by their loss in Liptovský Mikuláš 0: 3 in Friday’s 47th round of Tipos Extraliga. Locks lose 29 points on the penultimate Liptovs on 12th place, and they can only get 24 points.
Seven laps remain until the end of the regular season. Nové Zámky has one more finish, so they will play eight more duels, but they can no longer overtake anyone. The team from the south of Slovakia will descend to the Tipos of the Slovak Hockey League (SHL), the winner of the SHL playoffs will replace the chateaux in the highest competition in 2025/2026.
The New Castle Club worked in the Slovak Extraliga for nine seasons. He advanced to it in 2016 and in his first season he got to the quarterfinal playoffs. According to the number of points collected, the players of Nové Zámky were the most successful regular season in 2018/2019, in which they scored 92 points, but dropped out in the playoffs. From the point of view of the placement, they did the most in the year 2022/2023, in which they ranked after the regular season in 6th place. It was the fourth and last quarterfinal participation for them.
The best four competitions were not once once. The most extraleague matches in the jersey of Nové Zámky was played by striker Richard Ondrušek. The team was gradually led by twelve coaches: Miroslav Chudý, Štefan Mikeš, Július Pénzeš, Ladislav Lubina, Miroslav Mach, Milan Jančuška, Martin Hrnčár, Gergely Majoross, Erik Čaládi, Karri Kivi, Clark Donatelli and Miloš Holaň.
