Jacqueline Sanders-van Maarsen, girlfriend of Anne Frank died

Jacqueline Sanders-van Maarsen, girlfriend of the Jewish girl Anne Frank, died at the age of 96. This was announced by the Anne Frank Foundation in Amsterdam. She had written several books about her friendship to Anne and campaigned for information about anti -Semitism and racism. The two girls met in Amsterdam in 1941. In her diary, world -famous today, Anne wrote on June 15, 1942: “She is now my best friend.”
