The court of accepted the accusation against soldier André Luiz de Oliveira, suspected of killing the girl Eloah da Silva dos Santosonly five years old. The tragic incident occurred on the island of Governador, north of Rio, when Eloá was fatally hit by a shot while playing jumping in bed in his room.
The episode took place during a police operation near the Dendê community, where Eloá’s family lived. Soldier Oliveira admitted that he fired his gun, a rifle, nine times. Technical expertise confirmed that the shot that hit the girl came from the policeman’s gun.
In addition, images captured by body cameras reinforced Oliveira’s presence at the scene and at the time of the shooting. Based on these blunt evidence, the fourth criminal court of the capital accepted the complaint, thus starting the court case against the soldier.
