US State Department reported that aircraft had a “technical problem”

A US Air Force plane carrying the Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, to Germany was forced to return to Washington on Thursday (13.FEV.2025), after a mechanical problem was detected. Senate Foreign Committee President Senator Jim Risch (Republican Party) was also on board.

Marco Rubio and Jim Risch were on their way to Munich for what is held in the city from Friday (14.FEV) and runs until Sunday (16.FEV).

“On the way to Washington to Munich, the plane in which Secretary Rubio fly had a mechanical problem”said the spokeswoman for the State Department, Tammy Bruce, quoted by the news agency (Associated Press).

“The plane turned and is returning to the joint base Andrews”he said. “The secretary intends to continue his trip to Germany and the Middle East on another plane”.

The aircraft problem was related to the C-32 cabin windshield, a converted Boeing 757. It was detected about 90 minutes after the Andrews base aircraft take place on the outskirts of Washington. The plane landed safely.

It is not yet known if the arrival with Rubio delay in Munich will cause the secretary to lose the meeting scheduled for the morning of this Friday (14.FEV) with the US Vice President JD Vance (Republican Party) and with the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky (Servant of the People, Center) in Munich.
