PSP received, in five years, 9,923 complaints for dating violence, announced Friday in a statement to the security force, which has on school the awareness campaign “in dating there is no war”.
According to the note, in 2019 were received 2,185 participation; in 2020, 2,051; in 2021, 2,215; in 2022, 2,109; and in 2023, 1,363.
“As far as 2024 is concerned, the data are not yet fully consolidated,” says PSP.
By 2023, more than half of the victims (55%) were between 25 and 44 years old, 28% less than 25 and 17% more than 45.
Of the victims, 78% (1063) were women.
Among the 1,363 situations denounced, 916 occurred in the scope of ongoing relations and 447 in the context of “violence between ex-boyfriends”.
The PSP recalls that, in addition to physical and sexual aggressions and offenses and threats, also the control of the way the partner dresses or those who relate constitute situations of violence.
“Both victims and the closest people should be aware of constant pressure signs to isolate themselves from their core of family and friends and live more and more, due to the will of the aggressor,” warns the institution, appealing to citizens who report the situations of violence they are aware of.

On Wednesday, the PSP started until February 21, regarding Valentine’s Day that is marked today, the campaign “In Dating there is no war”, with the performance of awareness actions directed to adolescents between 13 and 18 years of basic and secondary schools.
The theme of dating violence has also been present in the activity of the teams secure, and since 2019, more than 6,300 awareness actions that covered more than 134,300 students from all over the country.
“Only in the school year 2023/2024 were performed 1,795 awareness actions that had the participation of 39,295 students, in about 330 educational establishments”, the PSP needs.
