“The kingdom welcomes (the possibility) of organizing a summit in Saudi Arabia and confirms its continuing efforts to achieve a permanent peace between Russia and Ukraine,” said the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement.
Trump and Putin phoned Wednesday and announced their intention to meet in person. The US President then indicated that the meeting could be held in Saudi Arabia.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the organization of such a meeting may take several months. “No decisions have been taken at work or at the highest level,” he added.
