Climatologists warn that, in the next five years, the effects of global warming will become even more visible.
According to the publication “Mediapotok”, since 2023, the land has entered a period of extremely high temperatures. The summers of the 2023 and 2024 were the hottest in the history of observations, and for now, it is impossible to predict how the climate will evolve until 2027.
The probability of this period to break the average temperature records is estimated at 98%. The main causes of heating are human activity and natural phenomena. The greenhouse gas emissions contribute to the accumulation of heat in the atmosphere, which leads to the accelerated melting of the glaciers and to the increase of the planetary ocean level. This process is amplified by the El Niño phenomenon, which causes the surface water temperature to increase in the Pacific Ocean.
Climatic changes will lead to an increase in the frequency of natural disasters. Droughrs, forest fires, floods and even tsunamis could become ordinary phenomena. Also, volcanic activity could increase, and mass migration of animals will have a significant impact on ecosystems. People with chronic conditions will experience additional pressure due to high temperatures, and lack of drinking water will become a global problem.
In addition, the melting of permafrost increases the risk of release of viruses and ancient bacteria. Scientists are afraid that this process could accelerate three times, releasing organisms that have been preserved in glaciers for thousands of years. Currently, specialists focus on finding solutions that slow down the pace of global warming.
