The mayor of Rio de Janeiro (PSD), and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, announced that the state capital will host the meeting of heads of state, on July 6 and 7 this year. In the post, this Saturday (15) on social network X, Paes included a video in which Vieira gives the news. “Now it’s official! BRICS in Rio! Thank you President Lula and Minister Mauro Vieira! We are very proud to receive this great meeting on behalf of all Brazilians, ”wrote the mayor. In the video, Paes appears next to Vieira and says the ad is a “great news” and a “gift” to Rio.
Then Vieira claims to have “great pleasure” in being with the mayor and “strengthens this collaboration, this partnership, between the Federal Government and Rio de Janeiro”. “We will receive in the city of Rio de Janeiro heads of the 20 countries that make up the BRICS, in the two categories of full members and partners,” said the minister. Vieira continued: “Let’s make very important decisions for the development of all these countries, for the cooperation and improvement of the living condition of all inhabitants of these countries.” Subsequently, Vieira stated that Rio will once again be “stage of an international meeting”.

Paes thanked the government for the recognition of the “protagonism” and the “international face” of the state capital. The mayor also took the opportunity to ask the government to decree Rio de Janeiro as the “honorary capital of Brazil”. “We feel very proud to represent all Brazilians with the beauties of our city, with their challenges, no one here is innocent or naive, but it is a very special city,” said Paes. “Rio, once again, capital of the world. It was G20 last year, now BRICS. And maybe I get the presidential decree saying Rio, the honorary capital of Brazil, ”he added.
