French President Emmanuel Macron summoned a meeting of European countries to Paris on Monday to discuss the reaction to the US President Donald Trump’s plans for the end of the war in Ukraine. On Saturday, the Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski, whose country is currently chairing the EU Council, announced this on Saturday. Informed AFP.
Sikorski also confirmed that the meeting will be attended by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and added that Europe must now show its strength and unity.
Sikorski spoke of the meeting on Saturday’s speech at the Munich Security Conference, but at that time he did not mention the specific date of its action.
According to Politico, it was not clear whether all the EU leaders, or only representatives of the smaller group of countries, will participate in the meeting and whether other European politicians, as British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, will be invited.
The spokesman of the Elysee Palace has not yet commented on the meeting. French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot, who also participated in the conference in Munich, did not confirm or refute the extraordinary summit.
