In the Northeast, Lula sees a retreat of 16 points in the ‘great or good’ rate, says Datafolha

Historical stronghold of petist voters, the Northeast Region registered a drop of 16 points in the approval rate of the government of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT), from 49% to 33%.

The figures are from the Datafolha survey released on Friday 14, which pointed to all his terms so far, with 24% general approval, and 41% disapproval.

Despite the fall, northeastern are the only ones that maintain the numerically higher approval rate than reproval, which is 30%. As the margin of error is four points in the segment, the percentage between positive and negative assessment in practice is tied.

The drop in popularity was lower in other regions: in the Southeast, 11 points, in the Midwest, nine points, and in the south, five points. The Northeast and Southeast regions total 69% of respondents.

In the second round of the 2022 elections, the difference between Lula and then President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) in the region was 29.67% of the valid votes. In Piauí, a state that obtained the highest proportion of votes, Lula received 76.86% of the valid votes against 23.14% of Bolsonaro.

2,007 voters were heard between 10 and 11, in 113 Brazilian cities. The margin of error is two percentage points more or less in the general survey category.
