Italian tennis player, number 1 in the world, will be prevented from playing from February 9 to May 4 this year, and will be able to participate in Roland Garros
Number 1 tennis player in the world will be out of court for 3 months. The suspension was accepted by the 23 -year -old Italian athlete after an agreement with the World Anti -Doping Agency (Wada) due to his two positive drug tests last year. He will be prevented from playing from February 9 to May 4 this year. Last month by defeating German Alexander Zverev, Sinner will be able to participate in this season’s upcoming Grand Slam: O, which starts in the second half of May.
The suspension announcement was made on Saturday (15). Wada appealed to the Arbitral Court of Sport (CAS) against the request to innocent Sinner. The court, however, accepted the explanation that the Italian tennis player was involuntarily contaminated by his physiotherapist. The forbidden substance used would have been closet, an anabolic and antibiotic. CAS considered that Sinner “had no intention of cheating” and that “the drug does not favor any kind of benefit in its performance.”
In addition, he stated that the use of the substance occurred “without his consent and as a result of neglect of members of his team.” However, the athlete is still responsible for such carelessness from third parties. Sinner spoke through his lawyers. “I have always accepted that I am responsible for my team and I understand that Wada’s restricted rules are important for the protection of the sport I love.”
Based on this, I accept Wada’s offer to resolve this issue with the suspension for 3 months, ”he said in an excerpt from the official statement. The tennis world has had some important names involved in doping in the last six months. Highlight to the Polish, current number 2 in the world, who accepted a month of punishment in November when it was still number 1 in the WTA ranking.
