Tavira City Council launched the public tender for the construction of a new health unit, in an investment of 9.8 million euros, funded by community funds. The goal is to reinforce the offer of medical services and supply existing needs at the Tavira Health Center.
According to the announcement published in Diário da República on February 5, the endeavor provides for the construction of a high resolution external consultation unit and outpatient diagnosis, which will also be the headquarters of the Health Centers Group (ACES) of Sotavento Algarvio (ACES) .
The new infrastructure will have two main wings. The North Wing will be intended for external consultations, examinations and medical specialties, including dental medicine. In the south wing, services such as outpatient surgery, endoscopy, pediatrics, integrated diagnostic center (CDI), computed axial tomography (TAC), radiography, laboratory analyzes, physiotherapy and rehabilitation.
The building will also feature covers rooms, changing rooms, multipurpose spaces for library, training and meetings. A platform will be created for road, pedestrian and parking circulation, facilitating the access of users and health professionals.
The municipality highlights the “bet on building an infrastructure for health is vital to ensure populations access to daily and essential care, such as disease prevention”.
The competition for the endeavor runs until March 5 and the execution period of the work is stipulated in 500 days.
