The Ukrainian President, Volodymyr ZelenskyHe said on Friday that he had a good conversation with US Vice President Jd Vance and that more work must be worked on a plan to end the war in Ukraine.
“We need to talk more, work harder and prepare the plan (to) how to stop (Russian President Vladimir) Putin.” Zelensky said after meeting on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference.
Zelensky thanked the support of the United States, but stressed that there is still a lot of work to contain the actions of the Russian President.
“We want peace a lot,” said the Ukrainian leader. “But we need real security guarantees.”
Ukraine has insisted that any peace agreement should include concrete security commitments by the US and its allies, such as NATO’s military reinforcement or the sending of peace forces to the country.
During the meeting, Vance highlighted the need to start negotiations for the end of the conflict, but avoided going into details about the plan, arguing that it is important to preserve the flexibility of negotiators.

“The fundamental goal, as President Trump has outlined, is that we want the war to come to an end, we want the deaths to stop,” Vance said. “But we want to achieve lasting peace.”
The meeting takes place at a time when Donald Trump seeks to assume a central role in the mediation of conflict. Its administration has signaled that it is open to direct negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, but there are concerns among European allies about the possible concession of Ukrainian territories as part of the agreement.
Trump has already indicated that he intends to meet Putin in the coming months and mentioned Saudi Arabia as a possible place for negotiations.
