Carlos Paredes would make this Sunday, February 16, 100 years. An exhibition and a book are part of the plans of the celebrations of the centenary of the Portuguese guitar master.
The guitar is part of the estate that Carlos Paredes donated to which also has photographs.
From his father, Artur Paredes inherited the musical talent and it was with him that he started playing at the age of 4, in the hometown of Coimbra but it was in Lisbon, where he arrived at 6, who began to explore a unique way of playing.
But Recognition did not depart him from work as an archivist at the São José Hospital or the stage and life companion, Luísa Amaro.
Affiliated on the PCP, Carlos Paredes was arrested by PIDE and was detained for a year and a half.
O Book “Carlos Paredes – The Guitar of a People” accompanies the life and artistic pathas the performance in 1968 at the Vilar de Mouros Festival, where they also played Zeca Afonso and Adriano Correia de Oliveira, or the support of Amália, who took him for the first time abroad, France but not only.
With the guitar created a unique body that mesmerized audiences.
In 1992, Carlos Paredes was diagnosed with a degenerative disease that arrested his movements but did not prevent him from recording the ultimate album.
The book “Carlos Paredes – The Guitar of a People” that marks the centenary of the Portuguese guitar master has an unprecedented release of the concert at the Carlos Alberto Theater, in Porto, in 1984.
