Scientists are on alert for what they have detected with respect to the North Pole. As explained, for centuries, this region of the world, one of the most mysterious, has remained in the Canadian Arctic Archipelago. Until 1990. From that year, its location began to be different and began to move in an increasingly accelerated way in the direction of the Arctic Ocean (towards Russia).
Currently and after more than 30 years moving uninterruptedly, the magnetic pole is in the Russian sector of the Arctic Ocean. As noted from the US National Environmental Information Center (ICI), the North Pole’s magnetic field model is updated every five years.
As explained, during the intermediate years, the magnetic field has moved, about 35 km every year in the direction of the Siberian coast, at a constant pace. Despite this, they emphasize that in recent years it has slowed down, after it reached its speed peak at 55 km per year.
The difference between 1990 and before is quite large, since until that moment, very few km moved per year. Thus, experts expect this trend – although at a lower pace – does not cease at any time, and the magnetic north pole will be closer and closer to Russia.
If we look at the current rhythm, the pole would take about 15 years to reach the Siberian coast, although scientists explain that all this will be subject to possible changes, such as the one that occurred in 1990, and that they are unpredictable.
Unlike what can be believed, this does not mean that the North Pole is moving geographically, but is doing the magnetic field, something that should not be dangerous.
