The US State Department has made changes to its position on the status of the island of Taiwan, known by the People’s Republic of China as a renegade province. A passage was removed on the website of the ministry, in which it was previously said that Taiwan’s independence was not supported. The government in Taipeh praised this change on Sunday as support for Taiwan. In the factor folder for Taiwan, however, Washington’s opposition against one -sided changes in the status quo is mentioned both on the part of Taiwan and on the part of Beijings, which claims the democratically ruled island as part of China.
