Interior Minister Bernard Quintin, who moved to the scene of the incident, promised to adopt “all possible measures to combat this plague”
One person died following a shooting in Brussels, the fifth registered in February alone, and the government has already promised to advance with measures to combat this problem.
The shooting took place at 9:30 pm on Saturday, at the entrance of Clémenceau Station, in Anderlecht, where this month had already occurred an attack.
Police were already nearby, given that that zone has been the target of a surveillance reinforcement since, last day, two men fired Kalashnikov rifles in the Clemenceau meter.
Interior Minister Bernard Quintin, who moved to the scene of the incident, promised to adopt “all possible measures to combat this plague.”
Next week, the government will hold an urgent meeting to define the next steps.
For the mayor of Anderlecht, Fabrice Affs, “judicial investigations must be intensified to dismantle networks [de tráfico]”.
Last year, the Attorney General of Brussels recorded 89 shootings and nine deaths.
In 2023, 62 cases had been accounted for and the previous year 56.
