A new wave is affecting and several other regions of Brazil this week, bringing high temperatures that promise to challenge the population. It issued an alert to the period that extends this Sunday (16) until Wednesday (19), emphasizing the need for precautions to face the intense heat. In Sao Paulo, the thermal sensation is already high, even before 10 am, with street thermometers marking 31 degrees, while the temperature is expected to reach 33 degrees in the coming days. In addition to the state capital, other areas of the state are also facing high temperatures.

Regions like Sorocaba and Campinas should register 33 degrees, while Itapeva and Vale do Ribeira can reach 38 degrees. Cities like São José dos Campos, Araçatuba and Presidente Prudente should reach 36 degrees, and Bauru and Araraquara, 35 degrees. On the North Coast, Barretos and Franca, the forecast is 34 degrees. The Civil Defense warns that heat can be harmful to health, recommending ingestion of a lot of water, use of sunscreen, caps and hats, as well as avoiding sun exposure between 10h and 16h. To help the population face heat, Operation Altas Temperatures was activated in the state capital.
