You have no idea what Sapodilla is (Sączyniec or Pigwica proper)? No wonder you have never heard of it, because this exotic fruit naturally occurs in a warm, moist tropical climate.
In Poland, it has not gained much popularity. However, you must hope that this will change soon. It is delicious and It can act as a filling snack in the diet. The taste of sweet spherical flesh, covered with a cut brown-gray skin of Sapodilla resembles a combination of tofia and caramel.
Sapodilla is one of the healthiest fruits that Poles haven’t even heard of. According to the results of research published in “Trends in Food Science & Technology” it contains countless bioactive compounds and nutrients.
It is a source of potassium, calcium, iron, magnesium, protein or amino acids, as well as numerous antioxidants, including Gallic acid or quercetin. Sapodilla contains vitamins: A, B, C and K (supports, among others, immunity or sight), as well as fiber, thanks to which it supports digestion and prevents constipation.
He also supports the heart, but diabetics should be careful of her. Despite the fact that it can inhibit the appetite for traditional sweets, it is sweet and has a lot of free simple sugars (fructose, glucose and sucrose). In 100 grams it contains about 80 kcal.
Sapodilla is a universal fruit. It can be eaten both raw after peeling and removing the seeds, and used to prepare preserves (e.g. jams, marmalades). It tastes like caramel and toffee in one.
Thanks to this, combined with more sour accessories, e.g. kiwi or pineapple, it allows you to create the perfect taste, e.g. a cocktail or smoothies. Sapodilla also goes well with porridge and fruit salad.
